Operation of symbol mark contest

The "Tara Mikan" brand grown in Tara Town, Saga Prefecture, is in danger of disappearing, The Tara Citrus Association, a group of passionate citrus farmers and the University of Tokyo Mikan Fan Club have joined forces to create a new symbol mark for the Tara Mikan brand. The Grand Prize was selected after collecting 876entries.

Mikan Juice from The Taps

Recreating the urban legend of "Mikan-Prefecture" in cooperation with Matsuyama City

Every year at the University of Tokyo's May Festival, we collaborate with Matsuyama City to install taps that recreate the urban legend of "Mikan-Prefecture". The event is a great success, with so many visitors that there is a long line of people waiting to try it. Mican, the character that promotes the image of Ehime Prefecture, has also visited the festival, and children enjoy taking commemorative photos with Mican.

Visiting Mikan Orchards

Visit Production Areas in Japan for Farming Experience, Exchange, etc.

We have visited production areas all over Japan for training camps and other events. We have learned a lot by helping with picking and harvesting, and listening to the tips of producing delicious oranges in various production areas such as Ehime, Wakayama, Shizuoka, Saga, and Shonan district in Kanagawa Pref.

列車貸切のみかんツアーをNPO法人湘南スタイル・JTBと協力し、企画・運営

実は知られていない、小田原みかん。実は神奈川県で一番作られている果物は「みかん」なのです。 地域資源への関心向上、農家支援を目的に、 東大みかん愛好会はNPO法人湘南スタイル・JTBと協力し『お座敷列車で行く！小田原みかんの旅』というプロモーション企画を実施しました。 東京・横浜を出発後、参加者に小田原のみかん狩りからみかん弁当、みかんピールアート体験まで、みかんづくしの１日を楽しんでもらうツアーとなりました。

Mikan Mega-Distribution

Distributing Large Quantities of Mikan at The University of Tokyo Campus

The purpose of this event was to create opportunities for students to come into contact with mikan, and to make them aware of the appeal of mikan, thereby leading to an increase in consumption of mikan by young people, which is currently declining significantly.
In 2022, we could distribute mikan at the following universities;
The University of Tokyo Hongo Section (600)
The University of Tokyo Yayoi Section (400)
The University of Tokyo Komaba Campus (1000)
International Christian University (300)
Sophia University (400)
Numbers in the parentheses represent the number of mikan we distributed.

Mikan Board Game Sales

Created a game to play and learn knowledge about mandarin oranges!

We participated in Board Game Market Fall 2020 and sold two games, "Mikan Draft Conference" and "Mikan Wars". Mikan Draft Conference is a game where players can learn about the characteristics of mikans such as taste, acidity, and production area as they compete for 30 different types of mikans. Mikan Wars is a head-to-head game in which players compete for territory over mikan farmland.
